Last weekend I went to Edinburgh with two of my closest friends, Tami & Maz to visit the Christmas markets and explore the city a little. It was our girls festive weekend away and we decided to visit Scotland as we had heard such great things, although this wasn’t my first time visiting Edinburgh it was my first time seeing the Christmas markets and it was so good, I know I’ll be back.
We decided on the first weekend of December to help get us in the festive spirit and thought it would be a great way to kick off the countdown to Christmas. For accommodation we stayed in a brilliant little air bnb which was located so close to the Castle, the location was perfect and we spent most the time walking around the city and exploring the markets as well as a couple of cute little cafes which I’ll talk about in another post.
We went into the markets every day we were there to grab a bite to eat, a warm drink and to soak up the atmosphere. There were plenty of food stalls to choose from with a range of festive treats, perfect for picking up whilst walking around the market, nothing like a nice hot chocolate to warm you up whilst browsing the stands.
I’m missing Edinburgh already, the markets and city were so magical and I really can’t wait to return, I would highly recommend visiting if you haven’t before! The markets are worth seeing and they’ll really get you in the festive spirit, although if you’re going over the weekend, it’s worth noting that Friday evening and Sunday were a lot less busy and easier to walk around. The Saturday evening was just a bit too hectic so it might be worth planning something else for this evening to avoid the manic rush.
Have you been to any Christmas markets? Let me know if you’d recommend any to add to the list to visit!
